Preserving Summer! (Saturday, September 12, 10:00am - 12noon)
Enjoy the flavours of summer all year long! Don an apron in your home kitchen with Chef Tara and capture some of the season’s best through preserving and canning. Chef Tara will walk participants through the basics of preservation and the ins and outs of safe canning practices. You will be guided through three recipes yielding a total of 12 jars filled with: Sweet & Tart Apple Cranberry Chutney, Zucchini Relish and Pickled Beets
The best part - the produce featured will be harvested from local farms in the area – it doesn’t get any fresher than this! This class includes all the ingredients for your canning and preserving experience, background information and prep guide, 12 x 250 ml mason jars (with seals + lids), an equipment list, recipes and 2 hours of live and interactive hands on instruction.
Optional add-on includes a 3-Piece Canning Set for those who require some of the specialty equipment for the class.
