March 2, 5pm – 7:30 pm @ Corner Peach kitchen

If you’re wondering whether there’s more to Indian food than local restaurant menus, or if you’re craving the rice and sambar you tried in Chennai, tonight’s class is for you. Chef Tara has a special fondness for south Indian cuisine and has prepared a menu featuring some of her home cooking favourites.  She’ll serve a black pepper and tamarind rasam (soup) to start the evening, and guests will go into the kitchen to prepare an eggplant and squash sambar (lentil and vegetable dish), stir-fried okra with coconut, and, to cook the palate, a ginger pachadi (yogurt condiment).  We’ll enjoy these dishes with south Indian ponni rice, and flame-toasted poppadoms.  Dessert, prepared by urban element, will follow the evening’s tropical theme.  Dietary considerations: this menu contains dairy; the dessert may contain dairy, egg, gluten or nuts.
